Schools banning iPod during Tests
By cheater | April 28, 2007
Many schools across the country are banning the iPod during tests. This is because students are capable of recording notes and formulas and playing them back during the test. On the iPods with a screen, students are taking advantage of the notes and lyrics features. Instead of entering real lyrics for a song, they enter the notes that they need. Because the new iPod shuffle is only 1.62 inches long, it is very easy to sneak it into class. From there, students simply thread the headphone cord up their sleeve.
Duke on the other hand, encourages the use of the iPod during class. They feel it is an extended learning tool that can benefit all the students. For example, a student could record the entire lesson and play it back at home. Because Duke expects their students to have academic integrity, the amount of cheating has gone done over the past 10 years.
