MSN and Yahoo Call Off The Deal
By Robert | May 4, 2007

According to The Journal, the Microsoft / Yahoo merger talks which first took place a year ago have come up empty handed, the deal has been called off. Not that it was ever going to happen in the first place. Anyway, apparently Microsoft and Yahoo have completely stopped taking on the matter, and it was decided that competing with each other was slightly more beneficial than trying to work together.
I think the last thing the world needed was two of big guns of the online industry working together, though thats what it might take to knock some of the power out of Google’s hands. If they have no one to compete with than there will be no one to push the limits and make them improve. I don’t class Google a competition on this front as they as so far ahead they are not even in the same league. We all know that Microsoft is almost always the last one to act on upgrading anything and I am usably only because someone else did it first. With no major players to push these companies to improve I’m sure they never will.
It will be slight disappointing to not see what they could have done together but at the end of the day it is good to know that they will still have to compete with each other and it should only make the online world a better place to be.

Unfortunate, I couldn’t disagree with you more, I think we’d benefit from their working together to create greater competition for Google

I have yet to see Google do anything that i don’t like. I think the last thing Google need is pressure from Yahoo and Microsoft that might cause them to do something stupid to try and keep up.
