Get Your Extenstions Updated Or Else

By Robert | June 21, 2007

firefox_logo_small.jpgTheir is nothing more annoying than your favorite Firefox extension not being updated to be compatible with the shinny new version of you favorite browser. Justin Scott of Mozilla has issued a call to developers to bring their extensions up to date, or face being banished to the dreaded sandbox, the place where all misbehaving extensions go to die.

“Firefox 2 was released 7 months ago, and around 800 add-ons hosted on addons.mozilla.org are not yet compatible with it. Firefox 1.5 is no longer officially supported by Mozilla, so we’re requesting that authors update their add-on’s compatibility to a max Version of at least 2.0.0.* no later than 12:01AM Pacific on Monday, July 9, 2007.”

So if you are responsible for a Firefox extension and you would like it live on, I suggest you get your act together, or you will soon find it in the $2 basket out the front of your local Mozilla shop.
