The Microsoft Office suite is one of the best sold software packages around the world but it is also one of the most pirated. Now we have some stress on Microsoft because alternatives are appearing including the highly popular OpenOffice open source software and StarOffice. On the other hand we still have Microsoft Office setting the bar and the alternatives are simply not good enough, no matter what fans say.

Office is great but the problem with it has always been price. Microsoft Office 2007 varies in price from $149 for Microsoft Office Home and Student to $679 for Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. This is quite a difference and we have an amount that will add to the bills. OpenOffice is getting better with each version and this has to worry Microsoft since we have the possibility of dealing with great software that costs a lot versus good software that is free.

Microsoft is trying to change the trends and is introducing a special offer aimed at students. If you are a college student, have a .edu e-mail address, you have the needed documents and are enrolled in 0.5 hours of coursework you can purchase Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 for just $59.95. This is basically a steal and you can download everything from an official web site or you can have a DVD shipped to your own postal address for free.

Before you get ready to go to your nearest store with $60 in your pockets you should check your country. This offer is only available in USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy and France. The tag line is “The Ultimate Steal” and the promotion will be over on April 30, so be quick or you will lose on this chance. It does not happen very often that you can get licensed software like the entire Microsoft Office Suite for just $60.
