Yahoo’s New Search Suggest

By Robert | July 12, 2007

y3.gifYahoo has launched a “suggest search” feature that automatically prompts users with suggested search queries as they type. This is said by Yahoo to make the searching possess shorter, by shortening the amount of words that a user will need to type when searching the internet.

This feature is not as new a Yahoo would like you to think it is. It has been available on the yahoo toolbar in Firefox form a while now. This is also not available on yahoo local search only yahoo.com.

This is not Yahoo’s first crack at integrating such a feature. They previously spoke of Instant Search, that prompted results in a similar way as suggest search prompts queries in September 2005, although that product never made it to Yahoo’s front page. Google offers an identical service to suggest search with Google Suggest
