Yahoo! has made a few very interesting updates to its Yahoo! Mail service that allows it’s user to connect in ways other than just email.

The new Yahoo Mail has new features that will help its use keep in touch with people, and not only by email. The first and probably the most interesting feature is the ability for the user to send text messages (SMS) to a mobile phone. Yahoo Mail users can now choose to send IM’s to mobile phone numbers in the US, Canada, India and the Philippines without leaving Yahoo! mail site. All you need to do is simply enter the mobile number you would like to send the SMS to, type a message and click send.

The second new feature is the ability to send an Instant Message (IM) from the Yahoo Mail interface straight to Yahoo messenger or Windows Live Messenger. This opens the door to millions of other IM users out there, straight from the Yahoo! Mail interface. These features are just a few more ways for people to connect online.

Yahoo! Mail IM and mobile feature enhancements will begin rolling out to users worldwide today. They have also added the option to change the color of the interface to suit whatever you like.
