The battle between Microsoft and Google takes another very large leap forward. Microsoft has beaten Google to the ounh with it’s new book search expansion that now will search a limited number of copyrighted works. Before this, most index books where public domain. This should push Google in the same direction very quickly.

The update to MSN Live Search Books comes while Google is tangled up in lawsuits for indexing copyrighted material in the past. That’s something for which Microsoft has criticized Google. I fail to see why Microsoft are on there high horse about this one. I’m sure they have index there fair share of copyrighted material.

MSN Live Search Books Has a very small selection of copyrighted books. This is made up by all listings having a link to somewhere you can purchase the book.
