Dell Plus Linux = Pirate Heaven?
By Robert | March 29, 2007
Dell have announced that they will soon provide Linux installs on there non-server range of PC’s.
After “IdeaStorm” (public brainstorm by Dell customers) Dell found that 70% of users wanted to have the option of Linux instead of Windows when desgining there new system. In my opinion it is not for the cost saving reason you would think. The reason I would get a Linux install over a Windows install from Dell is because I would bring it home and install my “free” pirated version of Windows over the Linux install.
I don’t think that it will be 100% free. I’m sure Dell will tack on an installation charge of some description which is yet to be released to the public.
How popular the linux option will be, I don’t know but i’m very sure that allot of the buyers will not be Linux fanboi’s but tight ass pirates like my self.
Would I buy a Dell computer with a Linux install? No. Would I buy a computer with Linux installed? Yes but it would not be from Dell.
I don’t have anything against Dell but I am a person that likes to play with and upgrade my computers on a regular basis. The word Dell and upgrade should never be said in the same sentence.
