Review: Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case

Well here we have to new Antec Nine Hundred Extreme Gaming Case. Is it extreme? Well it sure looks the part. But I don’t think it is as extreme as it should be for the price. When I first saw this case I was very impressed by it looks and couldn’t wait to see if it was extreme as it seemed.

This has allot to to do with the 200mm exhaust fan that is mounted on the top of the case and looks like a turbine out of some fighter jet. Thankfully it does sound anything like a jet, it’s not as loud as you would think by looking at it. Because of it’s large size it can push allot more air at slow speeds and because it’s not moving as fast as some of the smaller fans it is generates allot less noise. Your average 120mm fan will spin at 1300rpm the 200mm fan in this case spins at a small 800rmp which makes it very good at keeping things cool.

The fan has three speeds and can be controlled by a switch in side the case which makes it a bit hard to change speeds on the fly. The best s to find a good speed/noise ratio and set and forget.

This case also has blue 120mm LED fans in the front to aid with air flow but also gives the front of the case very nice look. The rear of the case also sports another 120mm fan and to top it all off you get one more 120mm fan on the back of the drive bays. That gives you a total of 4 120mm and 1 200mm fans which should keep the air flowing.

The side of the case has a large clear panel with a mesh insert to aid in the mass of air that will need to flow through. My final thoughts are that this case is a very nice gaming case but far from extreme as far as I’m concerned and when you take in to account the fairly hefty price tag it makes for a very expensive not so extreme case. If you have fallen in love with the look of this case like I have then you may consider paying just for the looks but if you are looking for pure performance then I think your money will be better spent else where.

This case is not bad but I think you can do better for the price.
