Microsoft Reclusa Gaming Keyboard, Not For Real Gamer’s

Microsoft is known for making half descent keyboards. I have never been a big fan of them myself. I have owned a few in my time and have found them to not last very long. Also the wireless version tends to be very flaky at times. The new edition to the lineup looks impressive but I’m not sure if they have fixed the above mentioned problems.

As far as design goes it looks like a real gamer’s keyboard but still with the Microsoft look, but does it have the features and ease of use to back them up?

It definitely looks and feels like a Microsoft keyboard, except it’s got a blue LED glow and a bunch of macro keys added on. The addition of two USB ports, six hotkeys (three on each side), the jog dial, and the programmable software suite really makes this thing feel like a gaming keyboard.

As for the actual use it does still have the usual soft and cushy keys that you would come to expect from Microsoft but still has a nice tactile fell about them. The macro keys are very easy to use and program to do whatever you like but for some reason there doesn’t seem to be enough of them. As for the USB sockets, you have to watch that you don’t plug in too many power hungry devices as it causes errors and unexpected behavior.

At the end of the day I wouldn’t call this a “gaming keyboard” as Microsoft have, it’s more like a normal garden variety keyboard with a few extra features. In my world that isn’t enough to call it a gaming keyboard at all.

I have always been a fan of the Razor and Logitech G series of gaming devices and Microsoft’s offering is not even it the same league. I own and are typing right now on a Logitech G15 and is one of the greats keyboards on the market at the moment and I think Microsoft have a long way to go to be able to compete in this market.
