Sharp’s 1 TB Blu-Ray Recorder One extra point for Blu-Ray
By Robert | September 27, 2007
Sharp has big plans as they want to launch a Blu-Ray recorder equipped with a 1 TB hard disk. This move is aimed to compete with similar launches in the HD DVD camp. A lot of good things happen in
The 1 TB Blu-Ray recorder appears after Toshiba launched an HD DVD recorder with 1 TB of storage. It is quite plain to see that all of these launchings are aimed towards consolidating the supported format in what press is currently calling the “Format War”. So far we have Microsoft, Toshiba, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation SKG supporting HD DVDs and Sony, Sharp, Matsushita Electric Industrial and Blockbuster supporting Blu-Rays. So far we have to consider the Blu-Ray as in the leading spot in this race and it was also interesting that we did notice some devices and software that will work with both HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray, although we did not get a chance to test any such claims. Both sides are constantly trying to draw supporters and there are so many big names that still did not decide what format to support. This leads us to believe that a clear cut winner is still far to be determined.
