Default Save firefox bookmarks and passwords?

I am about to do a format on my computer because it hasn't been done in a while.

I want know how can I save all my Firefox bookmarks and passwords so I don't have to enter them all back in after I reinstall windows.

There are two ways to do it, manually or you can use a a program called Mozbackup.

This will also backup all your settings as well as passwords and bookmarks

You can download it here : MozBackup - Backup tool for Firefox and Thunderbird

You can also use it to backup any Mozilla applications settings.

If that doesn't work let me know and I will walk you through the manual way.

You could also just copy all the firefox folders on your computer to a cd/flash drive. This will save all your settings. Then, when you get firefox up and running again, all you need to do is copy the folders back.

Thanks for the help guys.

Mozbackup worked great.

I didn't even think about saving the Firefox folder.

That's good to hear. And it is funny how the brain always forgets the most obvious way to accomplish a task.

Thats really cool, I will have to install that mozback up program.

I was going to say you could back up your cookies on a flash drive, but this mozbackup sounds great.

Thanks for the information. I am sure it will come in handy. I use Firefox and I have a lot of bookmarks and passwords stored in this thing. If I lost it all, I don't know if I would cry or scream. Maybe a little bit of both. I will start backing up these things.

I have only accidentally deleted my password once and it took me weeks to get them all back.

Word of warning you do NOT get a delete all passwords confirmation box in Firefox.

If you click it they are gone, no second chances.

Just to let everyone know. The manual process for this is completely different for Vista then it is for XP as I found recently.
