I have always used Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. Normally you hear a lot of bad things about Symantec in general, but I have often seen good things said about the Corporate Edition version. I get it free through my college (which I just finished). It doesn't slow down my system like Kaspersky.

I use Nod32,

I love it. I haven't used Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition at all but i have heard good things about it. (Corporate Edition, not the normal crappy one)

I really don't like Symantec. Their software is typically resource-hogging. I love Avast! Anti-Virus Free. It will give you commercial-grade protection (7-in-1) without a big price tag.

If you don't like avast, Grisoft also offers a free version of AVG Anti-Virus, which is also a worthy program.

I have used AVG and Norton's, and I'm currently using Zone alarm Security Suit(Done by Checkpoint), which I have found to be the best out of the ones I have used.

I've been following this thread with interest because I was hoping to hear from someone else who had an opinion about ZoneAlarm. I had it installed on two different machines - actually I think I just installed the spyware tool on one of them. It really REALLY bogged down the machine that the suite was on. I thought it worked very, very well but I uninstalled it because I can't wait for my machine to catch up to my typing speed while I worked.

My systems have used MacAfee since the ISP (Comcast) offers it for free and is supported by them. So far all is well, and I've had no infections on five machines. I service peoples units for a living and have found that Norton, Symantec and CA are worthless, it's like the hackers picked them to pieces and can find a way past their defense. I do feel that spam, adware, and viruses can be stopped by the ISP and that it's their job to provide safe connections. Some say that versions free from ISP's are striped down versions of the commerical product. Well, I really don't think I want the full version running anyway. I have a weekly routine that cleans the machine and deletes history files and then defrags. I don't have anything on the status bar or junk running in the background. I can tell when it starts to get slow and the adware needs checking. It builds up fast and lately some of the most trusted sites are falling in the pop-up pit.

On Windows, I ran a combination of Norton Antivirus and Webroot Spysweeper. They caught all the viruses (to the best of my knowledge). But there are always the viruses that remain hidden deep in the system.
