The message I got was automated. So far, I haven't been confronted by anyone about it.

I have my own server and my brother owns a hosting complany, so hosting isn't a big problem for me..
We previously used to have a few sites in hostgator, godaddy and the best was hostgator with good server speeds and good customer assistance by the service providers.

I am hosted for free at two different places - one place, I moderate forums for a guy, so he gives me some hosting on his dedicated server. The other is hosted by a friend I did some web work for.

I am a cheapskate and have never paid a dime for hosting, and am doing great .

I have hosting and registrar accounts at many different places (I should probably consolidate). I have many things hosted at the 'evil' 1and1.com. So far, I haven't had any trouble with them.

I also have an account with a local company and I host my largest forum, an IPB board, with Invision.

I personally use a VPS from Virpus.com as one of my development systems.

One thing to think about when hosting your own server from your home internet connection is the speed. All internet speeds are capped and generally run well below the advertised speeds. If you receive a great deal of traffic, it's simply not a viable solution as it will only cause a bottleneck.

In addition, many ISP's will not knowingly allow you to host a server from your home internet connection, some even if you have a business connection. When doing so, it'd be best to check with them beforehand instead of risk you internet connection.

I am currently using CPB-Network : Hosting Redefined for hosting my different websites. They are great, have great service and will assist you with any problems fast.

The only gripe I'd have with them is the fact that they offer un-metered bandwidth on shared & reseller hosting packages, which really is not possible with CPanel.

CPanel, by default, requires you to set the disk space and bandwidth limits for any account, so there will be a hard limit imposed.

Un-metered bandwidth is basically offering unlimited bandwidth and is quite deceiving to customers who may no know any better when signing up.

If they used set limits, I'd probably give them a try sooner or later.
