Default The free domain - for 100 posts..

SOMETHING FISHY

OK, I'm not going to give out my domain(its a private one for a school club) BUT....

FOR EXAMPLE ONLY PRETEND MY DOMAIN IS Home Page

OK, when I set it up, on the page (namecheap.com) to redirect using a frame, to hide my 'ugly' url, I found a problem. I sent my friend to the site, and his computer said that it was blocked due to being a malware site. So, I looked into it. It had to be the redirect, because I certainly dont have anything bad on my site.

SO, I do a traceroute...

in unix
Code:
traceroute www.12321.com
everything was fine until
Quote:
64.74.96.24x
Apparently my domain is going to this site, before it goes to mine, when I use WWW.12321.com, but when I just use 12321.com it's fine.

I dont trust it.. I'm going to transfer my domain to another service, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

I don't want to say Robert is scamming you ----MAYBE I DID SOMETHING WRONG!! but Just be warned about the namecheap site........

Using a frame will make any good anti virus go nuts. It will see all these third party cookies coming in and not be very happy about it.

I don't know what you think i could have done but i think you should do some research before even hinting at the fact that i might be doing something wrong.

Once i have pushed the domain to you i have absolutely no control over it. Its up to you where you point your DNS and if your not happy with the way your or your friends ISP routes you to your site then you will need to take that up with them.

A tracert to your domain looks like this to me:

Code:
  <1ms <1ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.1.1.1
  2 26ms 26 ms 26 ms loop0.lns1.bne1.internode.on.net
  3 26 ms 26 ms 26 ms gi0-3.cor2.bne1.internode.on.net
  4 189 ms 189 ms 188 ms pos2-0.bdr1.syd6.internode.on.net
  5 103 ms 220 ms 220 ms pos2-1.bdr1.lax1.internode.on.net
  6 103 ms 220 ms 221 ms cr1-eqix-peer.lax009.internap.net
  7 162 ms 279 ms 280 ms cr1.wdc005.inappnet-65.cr1.lax009.internap.net
  8 161 ms 278 ms 279 ms core2.wdc002.inappnet-62.cr1.wdc005.internap.net
 9 162 ms 161 ms 278 ms border2.pc2-bbnet2.wdc002.pnap.net
I removed the last two hops to not show your IP

Looks normal to me?

You need to understand that the way the traffic gets routed to your domain is 100% up to the ISP you are running the tracert from and even if i wanted to do something "fishy" it would be impossible to affect the routing without having some major control over that ISP's equipment.

Sorry. I in NOOOOO way meant to say that it was even RELATED to you. I meant the site that you were using...

Theres a hundred possibilities of what happened. You making me use a certain site is just one of them. I know you didn't do anything, but I'm just saying. there are many possibilities as to the problem.

After more thought,

The reason you are seeing the odd hop is because you will be using 3rd party site to load the frame in, which will then pass on your site to the browser.

Can you pm me the odd hope in the tracert or if you like you can post it here and i will have a look into it for you and find out exactly where it is and who owns it.

I fixed it.... I didn't know I could make it directly go to the web page. I was making it redirect to ____.dyndns.biz rather than my IP, and just using virtualhosts to that site (for the school club)

Cool.. Now it goes right to me.

Thanks for your help. That was very nice to offer.

Good to hear you got it fixed.

You might want to be a bit more careful when it comes to wording your posts next time.

Sorry.. I didn't even mean it like that. I was all worried and confused.

I don't want people thinking I'm trying to ruin their computer, first off...

And I'm tired, so I'm writing, and not thinking.

I'm really sorry. I didn't mean it to accuse you, but rather to point out one of many possibilities for the problem.
