I would like to recommend RadiantBoard
Its very new
it was released on 9'th of this month only
it is free and is very great
it is coded in php/mySQL and uses a lot of AjAx

I have always used vBulletin since i 1st used it about 2 years ago. But IPB is also another good solution. I think the different softwares are better suited for different niche's

I am about to setup my first forum in the next couple of days/week and it will be a forum based on the true political and current events in Africa, which is usually hidden from the wenstern world.

I wll have a look at several of the free ones, as at this stage I will be working on a low budget.

I tiring out SMF for the fist time on a test site. So far so good.

I don't think it's as good as vBulletin, but as a free option it is great. It's really easy to use and you can do some pretty cool stuff with it.

Most importantly it's FREE!!!

Thanks I will try it out, I had a look at a friends forum, he was running phpBB I think.

MacUser question, if you use SMF and later want to convert to any of the others would it be easy? Is there a conversion tool?
