Google PageRank - Important or Unimportant?

it's important if the rank is on a relevant search term.

For instance, macuser9214 return my website as #1, but who's gonna search 'macuser9214'?

Whereas if it turned up for 'mac user' then it would attract more people, looking for info about people that use macs.

I've read several interesting discussion on PR. As a surfer, I really don't care about a site's PR as long as it has the information I need. However, PR usually means that your sites comes out on top of the heap on searches made in SEs, so it gets visible to surfers. If we intend for surfers to find our sites in SEs, then PR is clearly important. Some webmasters will go for lots of inbound links rather than a high PR.

Depends on what kind of site you are running. If you're running a directory, you'll get more hits, if it is a higher PageRank.

i think that the page rank is VERY important. An nice website with an domain with pr 6 can be sold with ####$. But the same website with an pr 0 domain can be sold with ##$
