Default Dmoz

DMOZ is a very important directory with which to get your site listed. Google, Yahoo and the other big search engines get their urls from DMOZ. It can be a lengthy waiting time to get on there, though. Some of my pages showed up on Google before they showed up on DMOZ. They accept blogs too. They have thousands of directories and the directories are human edited.

Most of the sites are not accepted in DMoz as the editors are very much geeko but dmoz is one of the good resources for me to search some good quality websites which are accepted in that site.
Anyways these days dmoz has lost its potential in the eyes of webmasters as editors over there do not accept quality sites which deserve to get in.

DMOZ was not accepting url submissions a few months ago. They say that they are accepting them again. Still, my content does not show on their site. While I think they are an important directory to get into, getting into it is another story.

DMOZ has been known to have HUGE waiting periods. Basically, you have to submit your site and pray, that's all you really can do.

Amen.

I first submitted my main site to DMOZ almost four years ago. I have resubmitted on occasion since then. Other sites in a similar niche (many of whom are now defunct) are listed, but I've never been able to get in. Google and Yahoo love my site - DMOZ apparently has it in file 13!!

How is the process after you have submitted the website to DMOZ? Is it then the editor in the specific area that will be responsible for admitting you or not? And do anyone know what the criteria is for this person to process the work load?

Also do you get notice if you are not accepted?

I submitted my blogs to DMOZ 3 months ago, nothing yet. It's great that every submission is human-edited but that slows the process down a bit. Has anybody here any experience on how long does it take to be inlcuded in the listings onthe average?

Yes, i think that DMOZ is the most important directory but the links are accepted there after 3-4 months depending of your traffic.

I agree, DMOZ is important, not because it is a directly that people find your website through, but because many, many websites use the information in DMOZ to supply information to their websites. Especially fellow Netscape websites such as Alexa.
