Ubuntu is not my favorite distro but i installed it just to see what everyone was talking about and it pretty good. It's a great start for people that are just starting to use Linux. I'm a very big Suse fan.
You should give Suse a try when you feel like you know your way around Ubuntu.
Suse was the distro I originally wanted to install. I then went to fedora. Ubuntu was my third choice. The reason I actually installed it was that it worked with the majority of my hardware right when I installed it. Over the summer, I might install suse or fedora to a virtual machine or dual/triple boot them. What package format does suse use? RPM? DEB? Or do you need to compile all packages by hand?
Well, the poll doesn't include Windows XP, which is what I still use. I will make the switch to Vista when I buy a new PC in May, but my current machine definitely couldn't handle it.

Sorry, I think it didn't save the last poll option. The last one was Windows XP or below. I put vista in its own catagory to see if anyone actually upgraded to it yet.
