Default Ubuntu on Dells

I know it is somewhat old news (a few days old), but I'm interested in hearing what your opinions are about Dell now selling computers with Ubuntu preinstalled on it. Will this convince any of you to make the move to linux? Do you think this is wise on Dell's part?

For those of you who haven't heard the news, you can read this article on it: Dell to choose Ubuntu

I am glad they are doing this... Ubuntu is a very popular distro, and for people that like unix/linux this would be their PICK, anyway, so why not just pre-install it?

Well, by putting Ubuntu (a free OS) on it instead of Windows (a non-free os), it cuts down the price of the computer. It also removes the hassle of having to install it yourself.

It will be lowered a little. The article I read (don't remember where) said that dell wouldn't state by how much the price would drop, but they did say it would drop a little.

I think it is a boost for the linux following, that Dell decides to ship with Ubuntu. I think alot more might be will check out Linux, people that might not have purchased the distro themselves.

Doesn't matter. If it's 100 bucks (the winxp price) then users can be happy with Ubuntu, and not worry about installing it themselves.

Personally, doesn't concern me, because I wouldn't touch a dell, but still...
