Default Installing Ubuntu Studio 7.04

Just found this article on how to install Ubuntu Studio. I haven't used it yet but it looks very cool. :

Installing Ubuntu Studio 7.04 - Linux For The Creative | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

I will probably give it a try on the weekend and see how it goes.

It just goes to show how easy some Linux installs are getting these days. I remember my first Linux install, it was a freaking nightmare.

Also, if you already have Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) installed, you don't need to install Ubuntu Studio using the disk. You can simply add the ubuntu studio repository and its gpg key. Then, do a sudo apt-get update. Now, you can download any of the packages included in ubuntu studio. They have a full listing of the packages on their site. They also have a single command that you can copy and paste to add and configure the repository.

I can't get Ubuntu to install on my 533w. I load the Live CD, and get a message, then I hit ok to that, and eventually get my icons. I click install, and get nothing..

I'll try the alternate CD. But if the live CD GUI won't work, why would the alternate work, once it's installed?

Does the live cd itself work? If it does, you might just be having problems with the installer, and the alternate cd might be able to fix that. But set up your partitions before using the cd. I'm pretty sure the alternate cd doesn't have the ability to modify your partitions to the extent of the normal cd.
