Default Starting a TECH forum webring

Cheater and I are starting a tech forum and blog (basically all tech sites) webring.

Just make a banner 468X60 px. with whatever info you want (as long as it has the name of the site, and a general idea of what it's about.)

here's one of mine. it's an example:

IF YOU WANT YOUR TECH SITE TO BE IN THE WEBRING, HAVE YOUR BANNER READY WITHIN 2 WEEKS (MODAY SEPT. 3RD)

Then you will get a script to put on your site, for the webring banners.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. a banner image - 468 x 60px - NO exceptions (size must be the same for all)
2. a server or host that allows you to run perl (.cgi and .pl) websites.

To expand on what MacUser said...

You can post your image and the URL it should link to here.

As for the perl requirement, ignore it for now. I'm going to try and make it so you just need to add one line of javascript to your site. This should make it easier for you to add it to your layout.

Default Re: Starting a TECH forum webring

Ok, I finished the backend for the webring. Here are the full details:

To be added post here:
URL of the image
URL the image should link to

Or...

Images can be any format

Animated Images are allowed - but keep them to a minimum amount of frames..

Edit: To add the webring image links to your site, add this line of code:
Quote:
<script language="javascript" src="http://access.servehttp.com/randimg/randimg.pl"></script>
In order to display the images, your server must support javascript (most do), and you will need to add one line of code.

Edit: I have set up a small web page that has all the info about the webring (including a demo). The page can be found here.

Would anyone be interested in me setting up the webring in different formats? For example, I could set up a version that just has text links (no image). Or, I could set up an image version that could be used as a signature on a forum.
