Default Moderation Problems

Sorry to double post, but this is bothering me.. If I can't share my opinion, then I need to find another forum, that won't stop me from doing that. I have tried to help this forum with ideas, doing the podcast, getting more members, and everything, but if I can't write my opinion about something I need to stop coming.

This is like the Digg problem a few weeks ago, with the 09 F9, thingy (that code for movies), and MANY members were going to leave before Kevin Rose decided to let it go..... Same here. If I can't post my opinion I need to leave.

That's not right. If a mod doesn't agree with me, they can say, "I disagree because_____." They have no right to delete my post!!

If your post get deleted, there should be a reason for it. Don't post the same thing over again until you know why the first one was removed.

That's all I said in the first one:
Quote:
SMF beats PHPBB any day!
and that's an opinion. If I can't post my opinion, then I need to leave. Sorry, but I should be allowed to put my opinion out there, whether a mod agrees or not.

The only reason posts should be deleted is because they are offensive or illegal. I didn't delete you first posts and i don't know who did. If you have a problem with a post being removed PM me and i will find who did it and you can talk to them about it.

As for the whole digg thing. If you guys post something that could get me sued, I have no problems deleting it, I don't really care if you like it or not. I'm not going to put my whole site at risk so you or anyone can have a rant.

That's not illegal, and theres no chance of you getting sued. The problem with digg was that stuff was censored. I'm not talking about content, I'm talking about it being censored.

People were leaving, and I would do the same, here, because there was no reason for it being deleted. So I will PM you.

I deleted the post. I have nothing against you posting your opinion. But the least you can do is give a reason to back up your opinion. Short posts like that do not add anything to a forum, so I deleted it. Part of the job of a Moderator is to try and keep threads flowing smoothly. Removing that post made this thread run smoother in my opinion. If you want to repost it with a supporting sentence or two, you can go right ahead.

As for the Digg censorship, that was a slightly more shady subject. The Digg staff was just trying to stay legal.

I somehow missed this thread earlier, I guess.

Anyway, cheater already said it was him. I almost never delete posts (outside of spam). While some of your (macuser's) posts are short and add nothing, such as "Apples rules", etc., I normally leave them but let you know that they don't contribute.

I agree with cheater though, just saying "SMF beats PHPBB any day!" does not add anything to the contribution and looks like you just want to add to your post count. Back it up or say something else with it.

We all post short posts sometimes, but you (macuser) often have several that do not add much, which is what cheater is trying to say.

I do often times combine posts together if there are two posts by the same user back-to-back.

Yes. The new post you made is perfect. You didn't just post an opinion, but you backed it up. This is how all posts should be.

@Jason: I also merge two or more posts in a row by the same user together.

Normally I'll edit it, but once in a whie I like having 2 seperate posts, because it shows a significant change of ideas, or whatever.... So I don't like when people merge them, because sometimes I like having 2....

Normally I'll change it myself, tough, to add something.
