xBox 360 QWERTY Keyboard Controller

Microsoft has announced they will be releasing a controller with a full QWERTY keyboard. This just makes the list of extras for the Xbox 360 just that much longer. One thing the Xbox 360 is not short on and that is peripherals, but you can’t fault Microsoft for not giving their customers what they need. If their is something that you want added to the 360 that you can’t find it will only be a matter of time before Microsoft come out with it.

The main reason for the keyboard is that there will be a new chat feature in the next Dashboard update that will make the new keyboard a must for all Xbox 360 addicts. This just shows why I would buy five 360’s before I would buy one Playstation 3.

Feature list

  • The thumb keyboard plugs into the headphone / data jack on the bottom of the controller. It comes bundled with its own headset, since it doesn’t pass the signal through, and cannot work with current peripherals.
  • The keyboard is backlit; the chat bubble icon in the photos will be an MSN icon.
  • It will be released in the summer. No word on how much, though.
  • Engadget got a chance to check it out. They said that tactility is nice, but it’s a bit heavy with all the rest of the weight of the 360 controller.
