5 Years of Xbox Live
By Robert | November 15, 2007

November the 15th is a special day for Microsoft’s gaming division. It marks 5 years since the launch of Xbox Live and this means that we have reached a milestone in its history. It is one that should be considered interesting as the company announced that there are currently more than 8 million individuals utilizing the services of Xbox Live. It is quite a success for Microsoft, seeing that the Xbox 360 is not doing as well as they hoped.
Microsoft needs to celebrate such an event and they are doing just that. The company will be giving away the possibility of downloading XBLA game Carcassone without charging a dime. The only catch (it is Microsoft, there is always a catch) is that this will only be available between Nov 15 12:01 AM PDT and Nov 16 11:59 PM PDT. It is better than nothing and we also have another gift for every single user that joined in 2002. They will be receiving 500 free Microsoft points to use however they want to.
John Schappert, Xbox Live, software and services corporate vice president of Microsoft has expressed his enthusiasm in Xbox Live revolutionizing the way in which family and friends are having fun at home and further emphasized on the fact that Live is the best place to hang out with friends while enjoying all the benefits it brings. Another interesting fact you need to know is the fact that Xbox 360 gamers will be able to download original Xbox games in order to play them on this generation of video game consoles. An example would be Halo or Fable, available for $15 or 1,200 Microsoft points. As you can see, the bonus offered (500 MP) is not even enough to purchase one of these games but it is better than nothing.
