Shane Macaulay and Dino Dai Zovi, a software engineer and security researcher taking part in the mac cracking competition called “PWN to Own” Hack-a-Mac contest at the CanSecWest conference in Vancouver. They managed to hack into and take control of a MacBook by finding a security exploit that takes advantage of an open Safari browser window.

The exploit that was used is called a zero day exploit. That is an exploit that is very new and almost unheard of. They are now in the running for the $10,000 bug bounty offered by Apple. This just goes to show Mac users that, yes mac’s are safer but that does not mean that it is hack proof. I think this will be a good wake up call for all Mac users.
