Apple TV Video Rental Service Coming Soon

By Robert | June 11, 2007

apple-tv-small.jpgApple is back in the news, with talks of a video rental service. This service has been said to be able to compete directly with cable companies. This rumor has been started by non-other than the London financial times, quoting one studio exec saying it is set to “compete against cable companies and anyone else offering VOD into the home.”

This is a big call, considering that there are already many other VOD (Video on demand) services in the market and I wouldn’t say that they are set to directly compete with cable companies.

This was always going to happen. With Apple having such a strong hold on the online music industry, it was always going to spread in to the video market. If anyone can compete with the cable companies on a large scale, it is going to be Apple. This should be making a few company execs’ a little worried right about now.
